The long-awaited announcement regarding the Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for April 2025 is finally out and this gives much relief to millions of employees and pensioners from the central government. Considering the current inflation scenarios and AICPI data, the experts are estimating the increase in DA at 3% to 4%. To Who Will DA Hike Benefits?
The hike above refers to the DA for:
- Central government employees under 7th pay commission pay structure.

- Public sector employees, as may be decided by government policy.
What Will Happen To Salaries And Pensions?
Now, there should be increased salary for these central government employees with a new DA hike. Like, if government employee has a basic pay of ₹50,000, then adding, with an increase in DA of 4%, this amount rises by ₹2,000 that month which makes it an increment of ₹24,000 in a year.
An additional amount of ₹1,200 would be earned by pensioners every month due to the 4% DA increase for a pension of ₹30,000, which means an annual increase of ₹14,400.
When Will The Hike Be Effective?
This new DA would most likely come into effect from April 1, 2025. After formal sessions in cabinet meetings, the announcement is to be done in March 2025. If for some unavoidable reasons it is delayed, then the employees and pensioners will be paid arrears for the months before implementation.
