Former Finance Secretary Mr Subhash Chandra Garg has stated in an interview that in the Eighth Pay Commission the Government could agree upon a fitment factor between 1.92 to 2.08. Meanwhile, Secretary of NC-JCM (National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery) Ushiv Gopal Mishra deems that fitment factor should be rather 2.86, which is this fitment factor is a Power Factor that indicates how many times the minimum basic salary shall be increased.
How Much Will Be The Salary Increase?
Let us say, if 8th Pay Commission comes into effect in January 2026; it is likely that at that time, DA will be around 60 percent. The current minimum wage, under the 7th Pay Commission, is = ₹ 18,000. Salary after adding DA= ₹ 28,800.

- New minimum salary= ₹ 34,560 (almost 20% increase)
2. With A fitment factor Of 2.08
- New minimum salary= ₹ 37,440 (almost 30% increase)
3. With A fitment factor Of 2.86
- New minimum salary= ₹ 51,480 (around 80% increase)
